Amazon's September 3 Seller Central Access Deadline Is Three Days Away. Here's What to Check Before Then.

If you use an agency, a VA, or any third-party software to manage your Seller Central account, September 3 is a date you need to know. That's the deadline for service providers to verify and update their role coverage in Amazon's Solution Provider Portal. If they miss it, the roles they currently hold but haven't gotten approved for won't carry over when you reauthorize. Tools and people who do work for you today could quietly lose access to parts of your account with no warning to you.

This isn't a rumor. Amazon's Solution Provider Network communications went out to service providers directly, and the official FAQ confirms the mechanics. The September 3 date applies to the provider side.

A separate seller-side reauthorization wave is coming in September, where Amazon will ask you to re-grant access through the new authorization flow. Sellers who don't act by Amazon's communicated deadline will see their provider's access expire entirely.

What Changed and Why It Matters

Amazon replaced the old invite-based model, where you created a Seller Central login for your agency and handed it over, with a token-based system built around the Solution Provider Portal. Providers now have to register, verify their identity, and get approved for specific Seller Central roles before a seller can authorize them. The new authorization flow launched on August 10.

The catch is that many providers use roles today that aren't part of their formally approved set on the Solution Provider Portal. When you reauthorize under the new system, only the roles your provider is currently approved for get included. Anything outside that approved set disappears, whether you knew the provider had it or not.

If your agency currently has access to your advertising console, your inventory settings, and your case log, they might only be approved for advertising. The other two go away silently. Nobody sends you an alert about what's missing; you just discover it when something stops working in October.

What to Do Before September 3

The first step is to pull your current user and provider list in Seller Central. Go to Settings, then User Permissions, then Manage Services. Look at every name on the list. For each one, ask your provider to confirm they've completed their Solution Provider Portal registration and that their approved roles cover everything they do in your account.

You'll also want to audit your third-party software separately. Repricers, listing tools, PPC platforms, and inventory management systems all connect to your account through SP-API and the Solution Provider Portal. Each one needs to have verified and updated its role coverage before September 3. If you're using CentralDesk to manage your advertising, it's on the list too: you'll still need to reauthorize their access through the new Seller Central flow when Amazon sends the prompt in September.

Most reputable tools have already communicated this to their users, but not all have. Check your email from each vendor. If you haven't seen anything from a tool you rely on, reach out to their support team before Wednesday.

The Seller-Side Step Comes Next

After September 3, Amazon will send sellers a notice to reauthorize each provider through the new flow. That process isn't optional if you want them to keep their access. It's worth knowing this now so the email doesn't catch you in the middle of Q4 prep, which is where things tend to get chaotic.

Think of this as a forced account hygiene moment. If you've changed agencies or VA firms in the last year and never cleaned up their access, now is the time to do it. Old authorizations don't expire on their own, but the new flow will make the access structure visible in a way the old invite system never did. You might be surprised by who still has a key to your account.
