Amazon's New Selection Program Gets a Significant Upgrade on July 30. Here's What Changes.

Amazon's New Selection Program Gets a Significant Upgrade on July 30. Here's What Changes.

If you've been holding a product launch, Amazon just made the math meaningfully friendlier. The FBA New Selection Program (2026) takes effect on July 30, replacing the existing program with a more generous set of benefits for new branded ASINs entering FBA for the first time. The announcement came from Amazon Seller Central in June, and the July 30 date is now 10 days away.

This isn't a minor tweak. The new program layers together fee credits, storage waivers, and launch tools in a way that substantially lowers the cost of putting a new product into FBA, especially during the first few months when sales velocity is thin and every unit matters.

What the New Program Offers

The headline benefit is a referral fee credit that effectively caps your rate on the first 200 units of each qualifying ASIN. On your first 100 units sold, referral fees are capped at 10%, or your existing rate, whichever is lower. On the next 100 units, the cap drops to 5%. These credits apply automatically at the point of sale across referral and fulfillment fees, so there's no separate claim process.

On top of the fee credits, the program waives storage fees, customer return processing fees, and liquidation fees on your first 200 units for the first 120 days from when your inventory first arrives at a fulfillment center. Low-inventory-level fees and storage utilization surcharges are also waived during that same window. For a new ASIN that hasn't built velocity yet, those waivers remove a real source of early-stage cost pressure.

The program also includes $75 in Vine enrollment fee credits and $50 in coupon variable fee credits, both usable within the first 60 days. And if you're using Vine's pre-launch service, all of the storage and returns windows extend by an additional 45 days, giving you up to 165 days of free early-stage operations on your first 200 units.

The October 31 Deadline You'll Want to Note

Here's where the program gets a little more complicated. Amazon is running an automatic introductory enrollment window from July 30 through October 31, 2026. If you're currently enrolled in the existing New Selection Program, you don't need to do anything to receive the 2026 benefits on new ASINs you launch before October 31. Amazon migrates you automatically.

But after October 31, that automatic coverage ends. Any new branded ASIN you list after that date won't receive program benefits unless you've actively confirmed your enrollment in the 2026 version by accepting the updated terms before the deadline. Benefits already earned on ASINs that qualified during the introductory window aren't clawed back, but new launches after October 31 are unprotected if you haven't enrolled.

For new FBA sellers who haven't enrolled in any version of New Selection before, the process is simpler: you're automatically enrolled once your first FBA shipment of a qualifying branded new-to-FBA product is received at a fulfillment center within 90 days of listing the offer.

Who Qualifies

The program covers professional sellers with branded, new-to-FBA parent ASINs. "New-to-FBA" means the product hasn't had an FBA inbound shipment by any seller in the last 12 months. Both standard-size and non-standard-size items qualify, but used items don't.

There's also an IPI score requirement of 400 or higher for sellers where IPI applies. Amazon's Seller Central is the authoritative reference on current eligibility thresholds.

One other note: the new program benefits don't stack with New Seller Incentives. If you qualify for both programs, New Seller Incentives apply first. That's worth knowing if you're a newer seller and assumed you'd be doubling up.

What to Do Before July 30

If you have branded products ready to launch in FBA, pulling the trigger before or right at July 30 starts the 365-day benefit clock immediately. Waiting a week or two after the program launches doesn't cost you the program, but every day you wait is a day off the front end of a 365-day window. The free storage and waived surcharges matter most in months one through four, when velocity is building and margins are tightest.

Check your current enrollment status in Seller Central now. If you're already in the existing New Selection Program, you're in good shape through October 31 without action, but mark the calendar anyway. October 31 is three and a half months out, which is exactly the kind of deadline that looks far away today and lands at the worst time if you miss it.
